Harringay Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Harringay Removals has taken, and is continuing to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or our supply chains. Harringay Removals is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our operations, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Harringay Removals operates a clear and strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. This commitment applies to every aspect of our business activities, including our direct operations, contractors and wider supply chain. We do not accept, condone or ignore any practice that undermines the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals. All employees, managers, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this policy and to act immediately if they have any concerns.
We are committed to ensuring that all work is voluntary, that all workers are of legal working age, and that no one is coerced, threatened or deceived into employment. We also oppose any practice that restricts the freedom of movement of workers or their right to leave their employment.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Harringay Removals provides removal, relocation and associated services. Our workforce includes directly employed staff, agency workers and subcontracted teams. Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, equipment, storage facilities, packaging materials, temporary labour and other support services necessary to deliver our operations.
We recognise that certain parts of our supply chain may present a higher risk of modern slavery, particularly where temporary labour, subcontracting or international sourcing of goods and materials is involved. We are committed to identifying, assessing and mitigating these risks in a structured and proportionate way.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Harringay Removals expects all suppliers, contractors and business partners to share our zero-tolerance approach. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we assess the risk of modern slavery and require confirmation that appropriate measures are in place to prevent it. New suppliers are subject to checks that may include background information, policies on labour practices and confirmation of legal compliance.
We reserve the right to audit existing and prospective suppliers, either directly or through independent third parties, to verify adherence to our standards. These audits may involve document reviews, site visits and confidential discussions with workers, where appropriate. Where suppliers are found to be falling short of our expectations, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within clear timescales. If significant issues are not rectified, we will consider suspending or terminating the relationship.
Training, Awareness and Employee Responsibilities
Harringay Removals promotes awareness of modern slavery risks throughout our organisation. Managers and staff in key roles, including procurement, operations and human resources, are informed of the indicators of modern slavery and the steps required to escalate concerns. We encourage all employees to be vigilant and to take personal responsibility for helping to identify and report potential issues.
Our policies on recruitment, equal opportunities, whistleblowing, health and safety, and ethical conduct support this Statement and provide a framework for responsible behaviour in our workplace and in dealings with third parties.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Harringay Removals is committed to providing a safe and confidential environment for reporting any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking. All employees, contractors and suppliers are encouraged to raise concerns at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management or through existing internal whistleblowing channels.
Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively and investigated promptly. No individual will suffer any detrimental treatment, retaliation or victimisation for raising a concern in good faith. Where modern slavery is identified or strongly suspected, we will take immediate steps to protect those affected and notify the appropriate authorities, in line with legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Harringay Removals recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continually reviewing and improving our policies, procedures and controls to respond to emerging risks and evolving best practice. This includes monitoring changes in legislation, industry guidance and supplier performance.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and updated at least once every year by the senior management team. The review considers the effectiveness of our current measures, any incidents or concerns raised, feedback from stakeholders and the outcomes of supplier assessments and audits. Where necessary, we will set new objectives and implement additional controls to strengthen our response.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Harringay Removals, who take overall responsibility for ensuring that it is implemented throughout the organisation and communicated clearly to employees, suppliers and other relevant parties.
